I was diagnosed maybe 2 weeks ago (IвЂ™m 21, my symptoms started showing around 19 I think. Maybe also the medications that we have to take (IвЂ™m not medicated, I stick with CBD) wears down our organs? We react to stress I assume differently than the average Joe, so maybe thatвЂ™s why we are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease? I canвЂ™t wrap my head around why weвЂ™re at higher risk for diabetes. I havenвЂ™t looked into the factors that play into the shorter life span for us, but I would have to imagine that wide of a year gap would be including suicide mortalities. Sorry if this triggers anyone but I needed to vent to people who understand. So Fuck every parent who was in denial, every doctor who misdiagnosed, every person who feeds the stigma, every boss who's fired someone for taking 'too many' mental health days, and the god awful system that America calls 'patient centered' healthcare. Needless to say once I wrapped my mind around what I'd just read, Mr. That's not counting suicide or substance abuse mortalities either. I was reading articles about the chemical imbalance that occurs in those struggling with bipolar when an article popped up that read 'Bipolar Means Dying Young.' I looked into it and after reading about 6 studies and multiple journals it just so happens that those of us who are diagnosed live between 9-20 years less than the average person. I don't know why I never thought about bipolar disorder and life expectancy before today.
